On small local equilibrium systems

چکیده
Abstract Even for large nonequilibrium systems, local equilibrium subsystems in the presence of strong inhomogeneities may be very small. Such situations typically arise either gradients temperature, velocity or pressure, transition zones between different phases. For small thermodynamic Euler equation macroscopic thermodynamics does not hold. One less implies one additional degree freedom, which is hallmark systems. I would like to offer some remarks on description and role thermodynamics.

Chemical Equilibrium in Collisions of Small Systems
The Statistical Model is recognized as a powerful approach to describe particle yields established at chemical decoupling. It has to be formulated in the canonical ensemble with respect to strangeness conservation if the number of strange particles becomes small. However, in some cases canonical suppression under the assumption of strangeness chemical equilibrium in the whole fireball volume wa...
متن کاملOn the Local Equilibrium Condition
A physical system should be in a local equilibrium if it cannot be distinguished from a global equilibrium by “infinitesimally localized measurements”. This seems to be a natural characterization of local equilibrium, however the problem is to give a precise meaning to the qualitative phrase “infinitesimally localized measurements”. A solution is suggested in form of a Local Equilibrium Conditi...
متن کاملOn local equilibrium equations for clustering states
In this note we show that local equilibrium equations (the generalization of the TAP equations or of the belief propagation equations) do have solutions in the colorable phase of the coloring problem. The same results extend to other optimization problems where the solutions has cost zero (e.g. K-satisfiability). On a random graph the solutions of the local equilibrium equations are associated ...
متن کاملSmall-time local controllability of homogeneous systems
In this paper we consider the local controllability problem for control-affine systems that are homogeneous with respect to a one-parameter family of dilations corresponding to time-scaling in the control. We construct and derive properties of a variational cone that completely characterizes local controllability for these homogeneous systems. In the process, we are able to give a bound on the ...
متن کاملHydrodynamics and Fluctuations Outside of Local Equilibrium: Driven Diffusive Systems
We derive hydrodynamic equations for systems not in local thermodynamic equilibrium, that is, where the local stationary measures are "non-Gibbsian" and do not satisfy detailed balance with respect to the microscopic dynamics. As a main example we consider the driven diffusive systems (DDS), such as electrical conductors in an applied field with diffusion of charge carriers. In such systems, th...
